SOCIAL LIFE AND OTHER PROGRAMS

WELCA (Women of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America): The Edith Reed Circle meets the third Wednesday of each month from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for Bible study, business and lunch. The women sponsor various programs and projects at Zion such as the Mother/ Daughter Banquet, Congregational Meeting Luncheon, and Community Clothing Service.

ZION’S YOUTH GROUP: This group for our young people in grades 7 to 12 meets on the first Sunday of the month for fellowship and fun as well as opportunities to learn and serve. The youth are responsible for leading worship Easter morning, and for preparing and serving the Easter breakfast.

CHOIRS under the direction of Rosemarie Zebell: Our Choir practices Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The choir leads the congregation in weekly worship. During July and August, the choir takes a rest from midweek practices and Sunday morning anthems.
  Our Children's Choir meets on Wednesdays from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. for children in kindergarten through 6th grade. This choir will sing at special services throughout the year.
During the summer months, special music is provided by various members of Zion.

OTHER MUSICAL GROUPS:
  Ensemble - Zion's local instrumental talent practice throughout the year at various times to provide special music for special Sunday morning services.
  Chime Choir - Like hand bells, but different, this group gathers at various times throughout the year to provide special music on different occasions.

MID-WEEK BIBLE STUDY: We have in the past offered Bible Studies led by the Pastor.

FUN AND FELLOWSHIP FOR THE FAITHFUL: Once each month we gather for a time of fellowship. All ages are encouraged to attend events such as Oyster Soup Supper, Road Rally, Swim Party, Pirates Baseball Game, etc. We also hold several coffee hours after church to welcome new members, honor our graduates, and to celebrate Confirmation and First Communion.

SOFTBALL TEAM: Zion, along with English Lutheran Church in Zelienople, sponsors a softball team that competes with other area church teams. During the late spring and early summer months, we have weekly practices and games scheduled at Bauder, Burry's or Seneca Valley fields.

FRIENDS IN CHRIST: (an Inter-Lutheran "Seniors" group for those 55 plus) This group meets the third Thursday of the month from 11:30 - 1:30 (except in July when it meets either the 2nd or 4th Thursday and take June off) at an area Lutheran church for a program, outing, or fellowship followed by lunch. Details about events planned for this group are listed in our newsletter.

PRAYER CHAIN: Zion has a prayer chain that is activated by calling the church office or pastor with a prayer request. The first person on the list is notified and the chain continues. If you have a prayer request or wish to be part of the chain, please call the church office.

ZION ECHOES: This is the name of our newsletter that comes out monthly, except for a combined issue in July and August.  The deadline for articles is the Sunday after our monthly council meeting.  Articles may be placed on the secretary's desk in the church office. A group of willing helpers meets for 1-1/2 hours to assemble the newsletter before it is mailed out.
